Hi there, new to this forum (but old in years) and have this Oyster S7 satellite TV receiver (German by ten-haast) and has stopped receiving signal and suspect related to optus being replaced by KoreaSat6

I found the info on the new TP's being used and have configured them but have this situation where the signal level fluctuates every second or so and won't lock on with FEC an QPSK turning on and off. Is like too much noise or just not in sync or?

Sorry I don't know much about this stuff and the manufacturer does not want to know as no longer supported. Couple of pics enclosed....

Any ideas?

Are you receiving the Freeview channels or Sky channels? They have different settings. The Sky channels are all symbol rate 30000 now, rather than 22500. And they are FEC 3/5, but just set the FEC option to Auto if your receiver can do that. The Freeview channel broadcast by Sky on 12530 is also the same settings. The two Freeview channels broadcast by Freeview are both still symbol rate 22500, but 12455 is FEC 3/4 and 12485 is FEC 4/5 - but again use the Auto setting if available. All channels are DVB-S2 QPSK, horizontal polarity. See the updated Lyngsat page:

The Oyster S7 is quite old. Is it capable of receiving DVB-S2 signals?

Doesn't appear on the list here: https://freeviewnz.tv/support/satellite-update-april-2025/satellite-box-models-compatible-with-the-new-satellite/

Looks like it stopped being manufactured in 2006.

Thanks for the help... just trying to use freeview. Unit was made up to 2014 and git an update to it about a year ago via RSE. Nit sure about DVB-S2 support. The DVB indicator is the only one that does not flash green. When the FEC one flashes it has numbers 3/4 or 4/5 next to it so assume that working.

Not sure what difference between DVB and DVB-S2. (Don'teven know what DVB is lol). Will see if manufacturer can answer but perhaps that the issue

Just a heads up with my Dish Android TV box A7070 which is hooked up to both satellite and internet so there’s something to watch if internet is down.
A few weeks ago Freeview Live which runs from the satellite stopped showing any channels and I figured it must need some tweaking of the sat dish which I would deal with on my return from overseas.

Last night decided to check it out again and still no Live Freeview and clicking that App gave a blank screen. Couldn’t even locate the usual settings to choose between satellite or internet and do a re-scan any more. Internet streaming Freeview App worked fine.

Checked Play Store for any updates and there was a specific update only for the Dish A7070 Android. Downloaded it and on opening the update it brought up the setting choices of Satellite or Internet and fixed itself without me needing to do a channel scan which was always needed in the past.

So, thanks Dish people for making it easy. Mentioning this because a lot of older people don’t know to update their Apps in the TV box.

DVB = Digital Video Broadcast.

S=Satellite.

S2=Satellite v2

Freeview has moved to DVB-S2 transmission so unless your tuner supports DVB-S2, you cannot get it. See below if you want more info

Yep cheers, looks like that is the issue. Will probably parallel the existing unit up with a new receiver as existing unit has the dish control which I will do manually...
