I hope that someone out there can assist with my enquiry below. 

We recently bought a house which is installed with a Paradox Spectra 5500 alarm system (approx. 5-6 years old). There is no information as to who originally installed the alarm system.  

The alarm system is working fine but arming and disarming has to be carried out manually at the keypad i.e. the system does not come with a wireless remote control. 

The manual states that a "wireless expansion module" is necessary to use remote controls if you are using a Spectra SP system.

Does anyone know where I can source an economical wireless expansion module and associated remote controls. A friend mentioned that it may cost approx $500 to install a wireless remote system.

Is it possible to have a common remote control that can be used both for the security alarm system and the garage door?

Any feedback or suggestions is much appreciated.
