Is there a list of all Content sources that you can stream from (both Audio and Video) and if I am building a HTPC box...what are the pre-reqs for this accessing and possibly recording this source. Example what clients are available for accessing the course. So far my preference is to use PLEX...but I don't know of all the sources out there and what they deliver and makes them special.

Hopefully I can build a spreadsheet of them all....and by knowing what you need from a hardware and software perspective I can work out the sources I want...and the software and hardware that the HTPC will need.

Any help much appreciated.

For an HTPC though (xbmc excluded) I find "streaming" experience pretty crap.

Mostly because all these sites see you're running a real browser and so make a screen size as if you're less than 2 feet away. Requring the use of a keyboard/mouse and from normal couch distances - binoculars.

Ideally your streaming activity would take place withing a media centre, or some of these streaming sites would figure out that a 10 foot interface would be a welcome addition to their sites.

For the sports nut:

Here's a beaut I use to watch live games (mainly allblacks). Huge choice of sport events. Does not appear to be mentioned previously when searching semigeek's link.

Haven't had sky for years as there are always alternative means and their pricing structure is -- [Removed by myself]

A pirate site, full of popups and popunders that asks you to install a "player" to watch games? No, thanks...

Download/install is an option only.

Live streaming works fine but as some links (often several links) gives the option of live streaming from sky--nuf saidSealed

The reason asking this question ...is to understand the hardware and software needed to view or connect to this content so then I know what a good, but low cost HTPC would need vs buying a box like I presume Roku 3 or Apple TV could provide with out the need of building a HTPC.....I want to avoid building it and then finding either the software or hardware doesn't allow it to work

I am going to lock this discussion as it seems people are disrespecting the FUG and posting links to pirate content.
