I had to have my old Sky Card replaced yesterday, and now when I try and view older recordings I get the message that I can't view them because I was not authorised at the time of recording.

I understand the message, and Sky are going to get back to me with a fix.  My question is - does anyone know if Sky can actually authorise my card to view these older recordings?  I'm in the dogbox if not.  Cheers.

Sorry, you're in the dog box. The old recordings can only be decrypted by the old card.

i would ring and complain to Sky, their system, they should have to fix it for you if they can.

I've been told that the card is 'paired' to the decoder and there is no way of getting recordings back.

I know that we're told the recordings stay with the decoder and shouldn't be treated as permanent, but I wasn't told that a change of card would cause this.

Surely Sky has a master card that would get around this issue - seems like a pretty restriction system architecture if not.

I've asked them to find my old card (which wasn't defective).
