Hi,

Ok so I have an spark adsl wired connection for my computer it also runs 1 wifi connection off the modem (my sisters laptop) everything use to be fine then out of the blue the wired connection would freeze and make trying to load anything incredibly hard (ping would go from base 38~ up to 250+) i worked out this was happening whenever she would go onto Youtube/video/high data site on her laptop. So i tested playing videos etc on other wifi devices such as iphones and tablets and they had no affect on the wired connection it was just the regular 38~ ping, I then tried running vids on the wired connection and doing speedtest/pingtest on her laptop but it was perfectly normal. It is solely just the laptop causing the issue for the wired internet. Its not the router i have tested 3 different ones, i've tried resetting,rebooting and clearing the cmd but was no help.

Any ideas?

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

I would check for potential upstream saturation of your ADSL broadband connection. This could be due to iCloud syncing or any other cloud service installed on that laptop.

In Windows 8 you can view the Wi-Fi send/receive rate in the Performance tab of the Task Manager or you can use Resource Monitor.
