We have just got fibre installed and should be getting 200Mbps but currently only getting 90-100Mbps on google wifi

I have three pucks and on vdsl it was never an issue but now we only seem to be able to get half the speed we are paying for.

I have turned off WIFI on the Modem\Router in case that had something to do with it.

Is there anything else I can do?

Can I plug my google wifi into the ONT (where the Modem is currently connected?) via the WAN connection on the Primary puck and the LAN into the Modem?

If I connect directly to the modem I get the promised speed of 200.

Am at a total loss and kinda wished we didn't change from VDSL any help would be great.

Yes plug your primary pick in to your router.

WiFi will be slower than Ethernet, due to laws of physics.

So you ARE getting the "speed" you are paying for. Where was 200 promised? I think you will find all advertising says "Up to 200" - Wifi will never give you the maximum for various reasons, especially as the theoretical maximum increases on the various Fibre plans.

There are many advantages other than maximum theoretical throughput of Fibre over VDSL.

Check that the patch lead actually has 4 pairs - if borrowed from your VDSL setup it may not.

So what you are saying is even when I connect to the Spark Smart Modem via wifi I only get 100mbps this is to be expected...but when I connect to the spark modem via ethernet I get the 200mbps

When I was on VDSL I would have a connection around 69mbps wireless or wired there was no difference but on fibre there is a massive difference. Even when I connect to the Primary google wifi puck I only get 100mbps

The only time I get 200 is on the Spark modem (the new one)

Trying to understand this sorry but it just seems like it should be better. I know that I wont get 200 via wifi but should be more then 100 no?

Good point, hadn't really thought of that possibility - To OP it's definitely worth checking and\or trying a patch cable you know is CAT5E or 6...

Are you complaining about the speed from your internet provider or from Google WiFi?

Promised speeds I would say up to 200Mbp/s

210 MBPS VIA GOOGLE WIFI. Changed the patch lead and Bang!

If your using the smart modem, it has far better wifi than the google wifi units :)

Although you are getting 210mbit over wifi, i'd recommend you reassess your expectations of wifi a little! that's quite good for wifi on what i suspect is a phone your testing on.. Google Wifi is also only a 2x2 kit.

Nice catch @spyware

the smart modem will have also indicated you were only getting 100mbit link up to the google wifi.
