I have found an old cell phone (Ericsson A1228) that was connected to the old Telecom 025 network but has now expired, does anyone know of any way I can get this phone connected to the new 027 Telecom network?

The old 025 handsets are not compatible with the XT network. You should put them in the recycle bin at Telecom or Vodafone stores.

The old TDMA network is so old that Telecom have built two completely different networks since... Just a shame it has taken this long to get around to the right path, if you had a Vodafone phone from the same era, it would still work.

Thanks for all our help guys, I thought that it would be a long shot, its just a shame the old network didn't use SIM cards eh.

Yes...but there have also been far, far better phones since then too :)

025 was an old network with old technology (current at the time, howver).

And looking at things from a totally different perspective I highly doubt a ~10 year old phone is going to deliver any more than a few minutes charge. The battery will very likely be no good.

Exactly, we have an old Ericsson from 025 network I tried turning on a long time ago, the battery is poked and lasted no more than 2minutes. lol

IIRC when people say 800MHz they are actually referring to what is known today as 850MHz. Remember most CDMA phones are published as dual band 800/1900, where 800 is in fact 850.

Good point - even if you could find a brand new battery (highly unlikely for a 10 year old phone), it's probably a lot cheaper just to buy a brand new one, eh?

I found my old startac a while back and it was able to turn on and run for a good hour showing no service after being on charge overnight.
