Hi all,

Recently I have had had a huge ping jump to Australian TF2 servers- it was fixed for the last few weeks but seems to have returned. 45 ping up to 180 due to some routing issues. Anyone got any clue what the problem is or any advice?

Looks like the route to that server is going NZ > US > AU instead of NZ > AU currently on Vodafone.

Try tweeting this guy, he's the gaming at Vodafone:

Looks like they have their peering preferences set incorrectly there

Nice investigation Rangi, and thanks to all that pointed this out.

I am having the exact same issue. Around 1 July the tf2 servers I play in australia went from 60ping to around 180ping.

I first contacted vodafone when this first happened and they sent a technician to fix my modem but nothing changed.

I have since called vodafone with this information and they are apparently looking into it.

The case is wtih Sunny, T9428258. You should probably reference this if you call in as well. I suspect if more people call in about it the faster this issue will get fixed.

Thanks, Jared.

Hi Jared,

Thanks for the reference number- i just called up and referenced it. I sent them a ping and tracert for the heavy.ozfortress.com servers- it may be a Wellington problem as I am also there. It's been sent on to the higher level technicians and they're going to get back to me when they have an update. The reference number is:T9336828‏
