Since I'm going to work from home moving forward it was time to upgrade from ADSL 2+ with Slingshot to VDSL. Been happy with Voda at the office and bach, so thought I'd move to them for VDSL at home.
Sign up process and communications were excellent.
Friendly Chorus tech arrived and did the install. Ran a separate line to the VDSL modem to make sure it had no internal wiring issues. Upon completion he was very apologetic about the speed. He was getting 14Mbps down and 2.5Mbps up. Not the end of the world I said, better than the 9Mbps down and 1.5Mbps up I had on same line with Slingshot ADLS2+.
However... he said he'd check back at the exchange to make sure there weren't any noise issues on the line (or something like that). Saw him the next day and said he checked and all seemed fine.
Despite being less than I expected, I thought I'd survive. But since connecting the mode 6 days ago, the best I've had has been 13Mbps down, and 0.6Mbps up. I can deal with the down, its better than before, but the up is less than half what I had on ADSL2+ on the same line.
Is this normal? I thought given the good (ish) speeds I had on ADSL 2+ I probably had an OK line and could expect even better on VDSL. Or is this over simplifying things?
My biggest beef is the halving of the upload speeds. Hard to work remotely on 0.6Mbps...
I'd appreciate any thoughts/ideas... its obviously waaaay less than the 15-70/5-10Mbps Voda quotes on their site.
Should I go back to ADSL2+ ? Could it be due to Voda equipment at the exchance? Would I possibly be better off on another telco?
Thanks in advance for your help!
