We have voda business fibre at work.

Lan connections have come right after the southern cross cable issue yesterday (100 down and 50 up) the wifi connection however is glacial (1 down and 0.5 up).  I have tried rebooting everything with no joy.  Any tips before I call the help desk?

Thanks guys.

I doubt Vodafone support your internal WiFi. What wireless access device do you use? What size of premesis is it? What WiFi clients do you have, and how many? How does the spectrum look in your area? 2.4GHz or 5GHz?

We have a simple system for a small office.  We use the Wi-Fi built into Vodafone SHG1500 modem. Not sure about your other questions, we normally achieve Wi-Fi speed close to the LAN performance.

Wifi is not related to what speed the modem is connecting to the internet at, Have you turned off the modem for 1 minute?

I believe you said you've rebooted the router so that's a good start.

If wired is working fine then router -> internet is fine.

How many wifi devices are you using/testing? Are they all affected?

Just powered down the modem for over a minute and Wi-Fi performance is the same.  Only a handful of devices connected and yes all are effected.

Pressed the reset button (with paper clip) on the back of the modem. Keep the "personal configuration still valid" when prompted.  Still no change.

It's possible the wifi is using a heavily congested channel - but seems odd that would happen all of a sudden.

Can you download a tool like inSSIDer and see what channel it's on and what else is on that?

Tried changing the channel but no joy. Starting to think it must be hardware.

Seems likely.

Could always chuck a cheap AP in there and see if it fixes it.

Thanks yeah, tried to do that with one of the old Voda boxes that we have but didn't work. Will try with another old wireless router. Cheers

Maybe you should buy a quality wireless access point, not use something old you have lying around.
