We upgraded to fibre two months ago. We were longstanding customers of Vodafone and also of Sky so thought the Vodafone TV package was a good deal. BIG Mistake! The fibre STB provided to replace our satellite MySky box (which worked fine) is terrible. The Vodafone Customer Zome forums are full of complaints and groups are taking action via various means against Vodafone, who know they have a faulty product and are continuing to promote and sell it. Yes, the remote is laggy. Software updates make no difference. Three finger resets and reboots ( the advice given by the phone call centre staff) don't work either. The worst fault though is failure to playback a recorded movie without 'looping' - the movie jumps to the end of the recording, usually at least three times. You then have to go back to the beginning, fast forward to just past the place where it jumped and play until it jumps again. Etc etc. it's particularly bad on Rialto. Call Centre staff claim to know nothing about the problem - try a reset, reboot they suggest. It fails. The Vodafone Customer Zone online forum is full of complaints, but the techs supposedly helping on this forum ignore this topic. Basically, they don't know how to fix it. The problem has been known for over a year. I understand the technology was developed in Ireland. CEOs of Vodafone have been contacted recently and a customer with whom I have been in contact is waiting to hear from them soon, threatening a media campaign if there is no resolution. Consumer Institute are also said to be requesting action. Under the Consumer Guarantees Act Vodafone are selling a product that is unfit for purpose. Apparently Sky are launching a fibre capable box soon, maybe this is what we need to ask for as fibre has benefits the satellite boxes don't have. See community.vodafone.co.nz
If anyone else is really angry about this deplorable product and lack of service by Vodafone and want to do something about it collectively, please respond to this message. Vodafone do not know how to fix it. Either we get MySky back ( which is not the new technology we were promised) or we get the new fibre capable Sky STB when it is available. We still demand the discounts promised in the Vodafone contract. Meanwhile, take my advice - choose a different ISP and stick with MySky.
