Hey Forum,

Recently Vodafone has announced it will be increasing some on account plans by $5.

I am just confused how is this possible/legal when people have agreed and signed up for something at a lower rate?

I would appreciate your feedback

Kind Regards,

Newman

Probably need a lot more detail. Specifically what the agreement says about price increases and/or duration of the existing term.

Can you please be more specific.

There is nothing on their website or on the latest bill.

Are you referring to legacy plans?

The bottom 5GB endless data plan is going from $40 to $45

The companion add-on is going from $30 to $35

Don’t know of any other changes

Yeah, that one I'm talking about Tim.

Just seems kinda sad that they can just increase a plan's price when I have already signed up for it.

Again, need some more detail. What does your agreement say about prices increases? What is the agreement term?

You also signed up for this. It means you leave if you don't want to accept the new plan. The pertinent clause is as below.

1.3 We can change any of our terms and any of our Plans, Services, or Charges at any time. We can also withdraw any Plan or Service at any time.  We can move you to a comparable Plan or Service if we withdraw your Plan or Service, or we think you would be better off.  We may notify you in advance depending on the nature of the change:

a) If we consider that the change will have a neutral or positive effect on you, we can make the change without giving you notice;

b) If we consider that the change will have a detrimental effect on you:

  1. we will give you 30 days’ notice of the change or, where that is not possible, as much notice as possible;
  2. subject to (iii), if you cancel or transfer your plan, we will waive any early termination charges or transfer fees;
  3. if you cancel or transfer your plan where there is an increase to Charges due to a tax or levy imposed by law or a charge from a third party supplier of a direct input required to provide the Service (including a charge for a regulated input required to provide the Service), we will only waive any early termination charges or transfer fees where the change will have a material detrimental effect on you.

I see Handle9, I guess it is what it is. Just a bit guttered as they approached me about the plan over the phone, not me seeking it out. Now they change it a few months is seems a bit weird but oh well.

I understand where the OP is coming from - this would be quite disappointing and frustrating, even though it's in the terms and conditions and even though there's a valid reason for the change.

I would wonder how clear Vodafone were in that sales pitch that this was in fact a month-to-month, open term plan (which has both the benefit and drawback of being able to change things month-to-month, in this case that being that the plan and price originally signed up for could change).

This is why I have stayed on the Old RedShare despite many attempts by Vodafone to "encourage" me to change

This is why I have stayed on the Old RedShare despite many attempts by Vodafone to "encourage" me to change

Me too we are on 40GB red share for $99

Endless data 12GB would be $60 for the first plan + $35 for companion ($95 total and not enough data)

or $80 for 40gb + $35 for companion that's $115 for more data than we need

The last harassment call came when we got iPhones 12s with 5G and Vodafone said "you will use way more data now" - 6 months later we are still working within our 40gb shared cap

I looked at the 2degrees plans last night and again $96.70 for 2 phones with 15GB data each, that's 10gb less that my Vodafone Redshare for about the same price

After pushing the sales people repeatedly calling us away there will be come a time when I suspect Vodafone will safe enough is enough you must change to which ill respond "I have been customer since BellSouth days, I have not seriously started looking round but I will be starting that process now"

I did that a couple of years ago - I said exactly that - "I have been a loyal customer since Bell South days (when I used to sell the products and services)"

Their answer? "Sorry to see you go".
