Hi,
Appreciate your help.
New laptop - 1 week ago
running Win 7 and MS Office 2007
have transferred files from old laptop including favourites and email stuff.

Worked very well until yesterday.  Most desktop icone and almost all the program e icons in "All Programmes" have changed to the Word Icon.  Plus both the icon and selection for IE have disappeared.
Links for all programmes then take us to MS Word 2007 and ask for file compatability stuff.

Tried:
Northon Anti Virus
ESET Anti Virus
SmitFraudFix
All no improvement in the icon issue.  all icons (except Recycle Bin) still show as Word docs)

What have we done?  More importantly what do we do to return this thing to normal and usable?

Have spent 90 minutes on hold with Microsoft this morning to be told a tech will ph back in 1hr - Tui...

Thnaks - Maleko

Hi SCM & rscole86,
thanks for your suggestions. It turns out that the user profile was corrupt and that by creating a new user, transferring data from the old tot he new, then deleting the corrupt user profile has fixed the problem
Cheers - Maleko
