Hi I am currently with Spark. There have been a number of issues over the years and I am finally going to leave.

I need ADSL, Static IP address (I have 2 hosted web sites) unlimited bandwidth (kids on Netflix) I also use an off shore DNS service, so that I appear outside NZ, SFTP in around 200gig a month.

I will need to move my email too (5 email accounts) so if it was a one stop shop that would be great. Else please feel free to recommend an Exchange provider too.

I have my own modem, that provides the enhanced services I need (like locking out the kids machines) so a free modem is not required.

In my mind here is how I rate what I am after

Price-point, do not care as long as it is the same or cheaper than Spark
Landline – Required
Service Offering remaining constant – Important
Static IP – Must have
DNS Service to manage A records etc - highly desired
Unlimited plan – Must have
NZ Call Centre – Preferred, but not a deal breaker
Self Service Portal – Bonus
Free modem – Not required
Bonus calling (0800 and dialling plans) not required

Good luck meeting all (or even most) of those requirements and costing less than Spark. I don't believe that's possible.

There are times when price should not be the determining factor in a decision.

Check out DTS just moved my company to them. Not sure they tick all the boxes but they tick most of top of my head.

Good luck - I'd suggest at least taking the DNS hosting off your list.. just use Domains4Less or something and then the DNS hosting through the controlpanel.co.nz .. far more reliable than any ISP is going to be.

I imagine HD could tick all the boxes but don't go there

one of my issues with Spark is the changing plans (that they do not tell you about), so once or twice a year, something stops working and I have to ring them after figuring out what is wrong. they then tell me they no longer offer that service, or changed the way it is delivered

so I want to buy a plan and have it work and the bolt ons to remain constant.

Given up on speed, I would take up UFB (or VDSL) tomorrow, I live within 6 Ks of the central post office in Wellington and we are not on the road map till 2019

I somehow doubt you are connected to the exchange being 6km from it. As with the UFB builbuild it's up to Chorus when they do the build. Anf being so close I would guess you are in an apartment. Which will mean the installation will be dependent upon your bodycorp agreeing too.

Have you had your line checked to see if you need to get a master filter as you should be ensuring that you are getting the best out of your broadband.

you do realise pretty much every ISP has clauses in their contracts that allows them to change what they offer without telling you.

Your original post was implying it in a negative way - not a positive/neutral way though. I'm not sure why anyone would want their permission asked before their data cap being increased on their plan, or something to that effect :p
