I have been trying for the last 12 days (so much for slingshot's promise of 4-5 days to establish service) to get slingshot DSL service on a Vodafone landline at a house where I am house sitting. The landline account is staying in the original account holder's name and I want to sign up just for DSL and pay that bill myself.

Despite providing the correct landline account details 4 times to slingshot, they keep coming back to me with the EXACT SAME comment that the account details were incorrect and rejected. Each time the person I have on the phone tells me they can see the details are correct, and they will put in an urgent request to slingshot technical support to activate the service. Why they only notice this when I call and ask about it, rather than reading their own notes on the account, is a mystery to me. Once, twice, OK, but 4 times!

I lost it with them this afternoon and said they are telling me the exact same story every day, so please DO something DIFFERENT. "Yes, yes, 24 hours and it will all be sorted." Alas no.....

Has anyone had similar trouble?

Is slingshot customer service / technical service just hopeless (I can't comment on the actual DSL service itself because I'm still not connected)?

Is the issue that they are to run the DSL over a Vodafone land line and vodafone are obstructing this competition?

If anyone cares to suggest another DSL provider in the Newmarket area who plays nicely with Vodafone, I would really welcome the advice. I'm reasy to chuck Slingshot - they are total losers.

Most likely (I am only guessing)

- The line is a Telecom Physical Line which has been wholesaled to Vodafone.
-  In Telecom's eyes the line belongs to Vodafone. (Vodafine's name is the owner and thats all Telecom see and they has no idea about who it is retailed to)
- When you are placing the order for DSL via Slingshot you are putting down the name/details of the Person who is retailing off Vodafone
- Slingshot pass these To Telecom to provision DSL on the line but the Retail Name Details (vodafone customer) and who own the line in Telecom's eyes (Vodafone) don't match so Telecom rejected the order. (Telecom has NO idea who the line is retailed to).
- Telecom are not doing wrong as if the details are different on their end and what is put thru from the ISP, they will reject
- Slingshot are not doing wrong as they are putting thru the details you give them
- Vodafone are not doing wrong as they have no idea/notification on what you are trying to do.

Saying that .. these types of problems have been around for quite a while for DSL Providers and ISPs should be able to identify these types of cases and have processes in place (whatever they are) to be able to sort these types of issues out.

I presume you have let Slingshot know this is a Vodafone Sold line (on Telecom's Network).. not a Telecom sold line.

Or.....

I may be completely wrong.

Thanks
Craig

I think this is more likely to be the reason why is not going ahead.

If LennonNZ is correct though it means you cannot get an ISP to put a DSL product on a wholesold line...

It is 100% possible to do as it is more common than you think . Just contact your ISP again and make sure they are aware it is not a Telecom Retail line

Thanks
