Hi

After a couple of weeks staring at a tiny screen all day, I've decided to buy a monitor to help make working from home a bit more bearable.

I'm looking for roughly a 24 inch screen, preferaby with a height adjustable stand (but this is not essential). It will mainly be used for basic desktop applications (MS Word, Excel etc), but also possibly a small amount TV shows and gaming in future.

Budget is $300.

Keen to hear any recommendations. Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't have any particular expertise in this area, but the monitor I bought for working from home a couple of weeks back is the Dell P2219H. It's a fairly basic IPS with a built-in USB hub. There is also a 24 inch model (P2419H), and a model with USB-C (P2419HC), but may be slightly above your $300 budget.

I'd consider a refurbished model - 24" is a good size for both working and watching TV:

I have 3x HP 24" screens at home (and the same at work).

With 24" I would strongly recommend going with 1920 x 1200 - gives you a good resolution for working (word & internet browsing) and does video AOK as well. I stay away from 1920 x 1080, as I find those extra pixels extra handy whilst working.

Note that older games can be a pain with widescreen, and a refurbished might not run as fast as you need for gaming if you're into the latest stuff.

Bought an ex-lease HP E241i 24" 1920x1200 from PB three weeks ago. Unexpectedly decent, nice panel uniformity, contrast, colour etc. Very adjustable for height and tilt, works flawlessly with old T series Thinkpad via Displayport mini connection.

Stock might be limited or gone now, good value at <$200 though.
