Hi all,
I have an old 80 gb harddrive that I have installed into a second hand computer brought on trademe. I have formatted the hdd and installed windows xp onto it using my other computer. When I put it into the trademe computer, it starts up, gets about halfway through the boot cycle, then resets and starts to boot up again.
The computer was working when i brought it, but only had a 20gb hdd. The only changes that I have made to it, is to add some ram and swap the hdd's a few times. The 80gb hdd has been formatted several times and though I intend to dual boot with ubuntu and windows, it just has windows at the moment.
So to sum up (and finish explaining I suppose), I have a computer that I need to get working. It doesn't like booting up on the hdd that I have given it. The hdd works on another PC which rules out that as the problem, and I need to get this computer up and running as soon as possible.....
I am reaching the limits of my knowledge and sanity, so I need some ideas on what's happening and how I can get this computer going.
(I know this has been said countless times, but I need something to finish off with) Thank you all in advance!
