farcus: sorry - doing a google search there seem to be a lot of people with the same problem as you. What is evident in all the threads is that it is very random as to who has the problem and who doesn't. Don't seem to be any solutions provided either.
I read in one posting by a google developer that it might be something to do with the way Chrome reads fonts on your system - which is different to how other browsers do this.
Apparently there is a bug report for this - but has been in place for a couple of years and not addressed yet.
What you could try is making iso-2022JP your default encoding and specifying default fonts as mspgothic and mspmincho for sanserif and serif. This will probably mess up viewing of English language websites though - you'll be able to view them fine but the fonts will be ugly (unless of course a font is specified in the websites encoding)
hellonearthisman: I just pointed Google chrome at yahoo.co.jp on my xp netbook and it displays fonts no worries.
Chrome 6.0.427.0
Font Time New Roman
Arial
Courier New
XP Home edition
Version 2002
Service pack 3
MorayDeath: that didnt do anything :( and the japinese one just made everything japinese which is just boxes
farcus:
But did you have Japanese menus or were the menus just boxes - or did the menus remain in English?
