Morning all,

Here I am back here. I think the boss has played with his phone again. It was asking for a simple pin number when I got it. I think this means he's put a lock code on the phone. He doesn't want it that way (go figure!!).

In the guide it says to go into settings/personal tab/password. Well i can get into settings and the personal tab, but there's no password icon.  I can click on the lock icon and it asks me for the pin, which i can enter, but i guess i want to know how to disable it.

the "Prompt if device unused for" tick box is ticked and greyed out. I've tried a soft reset, but nothing changes.

Thanks
Sandy

Ok, I just thought I'd post that I've solved my mystery!!

My boss didn't do anything to the phone!! Our head office in the US has changed some security settings regarding Windows Mobile Devices as setup on their Exchange Server (outlook webmail). So that means we were forced to create and use a password to lock it. They had 'forgotten' about us here down-under. I found out coz I decided to to a hard reset and all was fine until I tried to hook into Exchange webmail and sync.

You live and learn I guess!!

Yes, this is a feature of Windows Mobile 5.0 when used with Exchange Server 2003 SP2. The administrator can create and enforce policies. It is also possible to remotely erase the contents of a mobile device - useful in case you lose it or forget in the cab...

I'm learning more each day. I had a fairly intense chat with my US counterpart about things as I didn't even know this was possible. He's agreed to consult or at least advise next time they change things so we're at least aware that changes may affect us.

They're moving away from BlackBerries and getting Treo 700WX's over there and will be using the Direct Push feature too. It will be interesting to see how they get on.

PS...i couldn't help noticing 5 msg's until u reach the 1K mark!
