Hi,

I have had this okta for a wee while now, probably 9 months or so, I only use it as any other phone and havent used it as a "blackberry".

Recently it has started to stuff up.

I have no mods on it and the only thing i have added is the free geekzone game.

My problems are:

- Cant actually make a call, the green button does not make it ring

- The phone randomly freezes on me and i have to turn the screen on and off to get it going
- It has totally freezed making me take the battry out
- Every now and then the predictive text bar goes all the colors of the rainbow and i need to turn the phone on and off to restore it
- Every now and then ill start typing a text and the text doesnt show up unless i change text input modes (i.e. from keypad to keyboard)

Is there a defrag option or something that i need to do to clean the thing out? I still receive texts and calls so the connection to telecom is fine its just the phone itself.

Can someone help me with this problem??

Regards,
Matthew

PS going out ans spending another $900 is an option i can neither afford nor want to do anyway.

Backup your Touch and try "Clear Storage" in System settings.
This cleared up a few issues with mine.

Try a hard clear which will delete EVERYTHING, texts, contacts, bokmarks photos. (this will test your send key is working too), Hold down both the talk and hangup keys and continue holding while you stab the reset hole and await the "clear all memory screen" press centre of navipad to accept and wait... again you just lost the lot....

If the screen does not come up, tray again but if no success you probably have a duff green talk key and it really needs repair and a software flash.

If you synchronise your device with Microsoft Outlook or Exchange server then all your contacts, appointments, tasks will already be copied - you don't need to do anything.

If you synchronise the device with a PC then you should have My Documents and Favorites synchronisation set, in which case you don't have to worry about these either.

You only have to worry about non-standard files, applications to reinstall and SMS. You can use Jeyo Mobile Extender to backup SMS.

To backup files you only need to plug the device your PC, open File Explorer and copy from your device to a folder on your PC.

Thanks for that ill give it a go.

Have fiddled around with it a bit more, and im noticing that if i press the green key it jams the phone till i turn the screen on and off.

Is this a software thing or a hardware problem?

If its a hardware thing where is a good place to take it

It could be both. Just try the hard reset first. If it doesn't fix then take to any Telecom-branded store and they will forward to the repair centre.
