Ok … GRRRR … I just have received my new E-Ten / Acer X610 (still factory shrink wrapped) which has WM6.1 off Trademe and I’m already having major issues with it. I currently have a Vista Media OS and have been using the Device Manager that’s native with Vista just fine with my other 2 WM devices (one is WM6.0 and the other is WM 2003). When I connect my X610, the computer doesn’t even blink once that it recognizes that a device has been connected, BUT if I use the same cable that came with the X610 on my Okta Touch and Navman, they both connect first time and Synch without a problem. When I reconnect my X610, nothing happens except the red charging light comes on and charges up fine. Just to be on the safe side, I have also done a few other “blind” testing like a soft reset of the phone, a full reboot on the phone (where it reinstalls all the bundled programs from scratch), have swapped USB sockets on my laptop, rebooted the laptop a few times, have ticked & unticked the Connections box in “USB to PC” (located in Start>Settings>Connections>USB to PC) and even plugged my X610 here on the work computer … nothing works and the charging light just comes on and charges up fine. I hope this can be solved as I really can’t be bothered entering all my Contacts manually and what’s the point of having a WM if you can’t use it properly!!

Have you tried syncing to another PC as a test?

I would love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code

Do you have any other USB device plugged on this PC?

Have you unchecked the box to sleep the USB ports to save power (Device Manager, USB Root Hub)?
