I've just bought a new bluetooth USB dongle (LM Technology) which comes with Widcomm drivers and is XP SP2 compatible.
i've done what it says on the tin and got the b/t working OK with my 2 mobiles, and paired with everything, including my iPaq 3970 (PPC2002).
trouble is, i'm now up to port no.s 100, 101 etc, and activesync wont see them to select.

i've seen the guide posted by David Hettel, but i don't really know what i'm doing at this level - Help!!

Your first action is to get rid of these extra com ports. Have you checked this forum post?

Hi Mauricio,
yes, that's exactly the way I've done it....
no idea how i'd "reset" com ports back down to low numbers though

Have a read again - you will find the way to delete the ports using those instructions. You can then create new ports, which hopefully will be created with the low numbers.

Hi Mauricio,
thanks for your support!
i've tried script editing as suggested, but I cannot get back to the "root" c:\ directory, i only get the c:\windows\documents & settings\user\david type directory - i'm so rusty on basic dos commands I can't get "up" a level.

i've tried entering the command in the directory I found myself, but it is not recognised.....
i'd also tried going into the "environment" options in control panel, system etc and adding it as a script in there, also as described, but to no avail.

I note you've on a different thread you've replied to a seperate query i had, in respect of my K700i & remote control - I'll try that tonight when I'm home, thanks.

david
