OK - this is seriously weird.

I have a wireless modem router supplied to me by Slingshot when I bought this house in early 2007. It's a Dynalink RTA1025W and has given us faultless service for over 7 years.

Suddenly, this modem has stopped working from about 6am(ish)to sometime before we get home from work whereupon it performs perfectly until we go to bed .. lets say around 11-midnight.

I have talked to Slingshot and they agree that there is no DSL connection when I talk to them (from work) in the morning. However, by the time I get home, all is well again .... and this scenario has repeated itself for at least a week now.

Slingshot will happily send out Chorus to access the situation but if it's an internal problem then we are liable for the costs.

Any suggestions?

To recap.

1. Great service and speed every evening from 5 to at least midnight.
2. No service at all (every day) from before 6am 'till whenever we get home in the evening!

Is there a possibility that the modem is faulty? If it's 6 years old it may be having issues from age. Otherwise maybe it's a wiring issue.

Those modems should be replaced by now.

They have a security flaw
Slingshot were issuing them for a few years - and the single port version

Easiest way to confirm it's the modem is try another modem - either borrow one from someone, or just go and buy one that meets your requirements...

Thanks for the replies.

I am about to change ISP over to Vodafone anyway as I have been given a SureSignal box that will cure my appalling to non-existent cell coverage. As they'll give me a free modem on signup I might just make the shift and see what happens. If my problem persists then it has to be a lines issue and I can confidently request it be checked out.
