Hi Team,

I have Vodafone TV, choros type 200 ONT, Asus modem RT AC5300, and a Prosafe switch jgs524pe.

The TV's are connected by cables, speakers around the house (yamaha musiccast) are WIFI.

I am finding that the TV (through the Vodafone box) is dropping connection, as are the speakers at times.

I am wondering if there are some settings in the router to review to try improve the connection?

Airtime fairness?

1. turn off all smart features/QOS. they are useless in a gaming router and only cause glitches and gives little improvement (yes I have a asus RT AC3200, i have tested this statement and while the wifi and ethernet connection is amazing, the "features" are practically useless and buggy)

2. don't use 2.4GHz wifi

So how long does the VodaTV drop out, and where is the Netgear switch in the mix. When the VodaTV drops out do you loose overall internet, ie from a PC

q1: 192.168.1.1

q2: you disconnect and reset all your wifi on all you devices. then identify which wifi name is 5GHz and only connect to those. you can change the wifi names on the router to help you remember which is 2.4Ghz. the advantage of the 2.4GHz is that you can stream video from your garden. the disadvantage is that the internet will be slow and also the signal is prone to inteference. the advantage of 5GHz is very fast but poor range.

I get a "connection lost" message on the TV, but I can still access netflix or youtube, just not the Vodafone TV content like Shortland Street.

The router plugs into the switch and the TVs, security camera box and PoE cameras, cat flap, VodafoneTV etc come from the switch.

Thanks yes I can get into the software ok. just not sure where to navigate in the software to try the changes you have suggested. i.e. is it under professional? WAN? LAN? etc...

Is this a vodaTV on subscription, ie Gen1 model, or the new Gen2 purchased from a High St outlet like Noel Lemmings etc.

Its the one Vodafone send on subscription, its a very small all black one in a square shape.

guest network - turn off

AI protection - turn off

adaptive QOS - turn off

traffic analyzer - turn off

USB application - turn off

aicloud - turn off

wireless - enable smart connect - turn off

firewall - DO NOT TOUCH

anything else that is not wireless - DO NOT TOUCH or you might lose your internet until you fix it

Thank you, I thought the opposite is true, so maybe that is where I went wrong. Ill try connect to the 5GHz.

Where do I go to turn off the smart stuff that might be interfering with the TV connection quality over cable?

if you get not internet after touching stuff just reboot the router until you get internet.

on my asus rt ac3200 it needs to be rebooted precisely 3 times to get an internet connection back

till this day I don't know why

Hi, the early Gen1 VodaTV has a reputation of mysteriously dropping connection, the fact that you can access Netflix or YouTube at the time indicates its unlikely to be a problem with your network, but a known issue with the VodaTV.

After the RWC I understand the VodaTV Gen1 will get a firmware upgrade to bring it up to date with the Gen2 model, this fix's these issues.

Edit: One final note, I personally would run a mile than use an Asus router.
