Hi.

I have purchased a Netgear Nighthawk RAX30 router from PB Tech.

I was told this is compatable with my Spark fibre connection.

However after following the setup procedure from both Spark and Netgear, and ensuring the settings are correct relating to connection type and Vlan tagging the router will not connect to the Internet.

The router firmware has been updated to the lastest available.

Has anybody had a similar situation or are aware of a solution.

It *should* work.

You have got the cable from the ONT connected to the WAN port on the router.

And followed these instructions: https://kb.netgear.com/30947/How-do-I-set-up-my-NETGEAR-router-if-I-have-Spark-NZ-Fibre-or-UFB Note, the username and password fields need something in them (doesn't matter what, just use user@xtra.co.nz and password)

I had an older nighthawk, and it worked fine on Spark.

Yes the cables are in the correct ports.

I followed those same instructions you mentioned.

I have tried this router at another house which has spark fibre and it also would not connect.

I tried it a home which has My Republic and setup using their connection settings and it did connect.

I have been in touch with the Netgear helpdesk and after about 45min of following their instructions the result was still no connection....

Scratching my head with this one.

Maybe the router itself is faulty....

Ive got the exact same problem!

I Have a nighthawk mesh system that doesn't work after changing the settings.

So i went out and brought a nighthawk RAX30 thinking i could still use my mesh with it, however the RAX 30 doesn't work either.

Have had about 2 hours of phone calls with both netgear and Spark and both confirm my settings are correct.

Anyone got a solution for this?

What does the log say??

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Hi, I would run a mile than use those products, but hey thats me, a network engineer in my day job.

SOLVED: Just to close the loop here folks, I had the same issue. No IP address was being issued by the ISP because the RAX3 wasn’t pointing to the Spark DNS servers. Resolved by unchecking the ‘Get Automatically from ISP’ and entering primary & secondary DNS server addresses: 122.56.237.1 & 210.55.111.1
