Hi everyone, and thank you for letting me join – I really need your help.

Just a quick explanation of why I’m writing:
My name is Jannick, and I live in Denmark. My father is currently sailing around the world and is presently in French Polynesia. Unfortunately, his Starlink Gen 2 router has burned out. He relies on it for weather updates and many other important functions, so it’s a critical piece of equipment.

Since Starlink is not approved in French Polynesia, it’s nearly impossible to buy any replacement equipment there. That’s why I’m now looking in New Zealand – but I’m having a really hard time finding anything.

Does anyone know of a place that might have a Starlink Gen 2 router for sale, and that would be willing to ship it to Tahiti as soon as possible?

Hi there, I have a gen 2 starlink full kit and is boxed, shipping to french Polynesia would be entirely at your own risk though..

If you want to arrange own shipping that would work too and simply collect from auckland.

I'm the poster on cheapies.

Hi folks. This is a bit unusual.

We only allow [WB] (Want to Buy] posts in the Offers/Wanted sub-forum. The reason is because there's a requirement for ID Verification to post in that forum. This is to ensure the seller is known in case a buyer pays for something that's not delivered.

Buyers posting in that sub-forum are also under scrutiny, to avoid scammers, but impossible to check if contacting sellers directly via PM.

In the case here, I will assume the time pressure is real, so I will let the post stay here, which will bypass this kind of verification.

My advice is for both sides to ensure they are happy with the deal to proceed if it gets to that stage.

How much is he willing to pay?

I have a brand new gen2 kit that’s sitting in the original box.
It’s my backup in case something happens to our fibre.
it’s only been out of the box to test and keep the firmware updated.
If I sold it I’d have to replace it with a new gen3 kit and the current cost of that is NZ$599.
Can’t just sell the gen2 router by itself as a new gen3 router wont work with the gen2 dish unfortunately, you need the gen2 router to power the dish. Doesn’t look like you can buy the gen2 router anymore.

And the box is a decent size and weight so shipping will likely be expensive.

I don't see this is the chance for a free upgrade. Sure, if you would want to use the income as a subsidy for your upgrade. But throwing the price of a new kit out there doesn't look good and no one would pay the full price for a current kit and get the old one.

I worked out the shipping to Polynesia would be about double the price..so about 560 all up. I've not heard from OP so perhaps gone another avenue.

No harm in asking is there? It may be their only option.

If the gen2 dish is mounted in such a way that it would be hard to replace on the boat and it was easier for them to get a gen2 router than buy a whole gen3 kit and replace everything.

And I didn't say I would only sell it for $599, I asked how much they were willing to pay.
