Welcome to Geekzone...

Are you using the software from the original CD?

Have you plugged the adapter before installing the software?

Are you using Windows XP SP2?

Are you using Windows XP Service Pack 2? Is there any driver that was installed before, besides the original?

You have to contact technical help at the manufacturer. They are the only ones that can give you instructions and a licence if needed. Widcomm only deals with manufacturers, not the end-user.

Welcome to Geekzone... As posted before on this page: if you are using the original drivers, contact the manufacturer and they have to help you.

Otherwise, if you are using a patched driver from another manufacturer, then you are at your own.

everyone out there listen i have figured out the problem and the soloution with alot of help and trial and error,
the problem is on service pack 2 it already has a blutooth software with a registered license so windows preffers to use that one but if you install your software and dont put your bluetooth device in and when it asks you too put it in click ok but do not put it in instead after you have clicked ok click cancel then go to Device Manager, right click on the "Generic Bluetooth Radio" and select "update driver do not connect to the net instead click Choose software from a list or specified location,In the next window, select "Don't search, but select the driver to install then just select your preffered hardware and hayhay your away hope this helps anybody out there who still has a problem!

Yes, this procedure is explained here. The main problem is when people don't use the driver that comes with the adapter.

Just for an idea, my Toshiba Tablet PC comes with the Toshiba drivers (no Bluetooth hardware though) and Microsoft software - but I still wanted to use my own Bluetooth hardware and software.

Following the steps I managed to change to the Widcomm software that came with my hardware - and this is changing from two different drivers to a third one.

Some people that report problems are actually trying to use a driver that has been tampered with, or tried before, and a bad file remains in the system.
