Installed the above lock in December. After much messing about due the module having a different code printed on it compared to the box it was in i finally got it set up and connected to the app.  Last week i got a low battery warning so replaced the batteries. This morning another low battery warning.  I tried to check the lock via the yale app but it said the firmware was out of date but it wouldnt connect to the lock.
i have tried following the instruction to reconnect by inputing the mastercode ,gear, 7 ,gear, 1 gear but the lock keeps switching off after i press 7.
before i do a full reset any suggestions?

The yale videos are rubbish.  Has anyone got some experience in these locks. They are doing my head in.

The lock still works but its not connected to the network which means i cant  changing pins and checking door status

Hey Mortonman,

I've got one of these locks and love it.  The firmware update process is flawed for sure.  I've left my firmware as is - it simply wont update.  There's a well documented reset procedure for this unit.  I'd start there as you suggest.  It's not an onerous process to set it up again.

I emailed YALE and they replaced the module for me. Put the new one in and everything setup easily and quickly. Battery drain has also slowed down so it mst have been a dodgy module.

Were you able to do a firmware upgrade on the new module?

It updated fine. I did have the phone close to the lock as i was setting it up. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Update on the lock. Lost wifi connection, wouldnt recognise the module was connected and the batteries drained v quickly. Yale acknowledged there is an issue and a firmware update is due this month. Ive ended up removing the module and using lock without. I await the update with baited breath!

Thanks for the information. I'm so close to buying one of these, I haven't seen to many other complaints so I'm wondering if yours is just a particularly troublesome unit. Watching with keen interest 👀

Yeah I am also looking at one of these so would be very interested to know more information, especially how the battery drain gets solved.

BTW do you know about the 9V battery connections?

To hopefully solve the battery drain issue I removed the module. I reckon it was using power trying to connect. The lock still works fine without the module. It just loses the ability to change pins and open via the app or apple homekit.

The 9v battery connection is just a back up fix to operate the door if the battery runs out and you get locked out. I have never needed to use it as the low battery warning kicks in and warns you every time you operate the lock.

We are able to confirm that we are working on an imminent firmware update. This update will be made available via the Yale Secure App to resolve any module communication errors.

Please be patient whilst we fix this issue and we hope to have a resolution very soon.  The current timeline for this issue to be resolved is the end of August/September and are treating this issue with the utmost priority.

Thank you for your email,

Please see the answers below to your queries.

If the firmware was not released by the end of September we would look at providing alternative options.

The new firmware will be released at App store. When you update your Secure app with the latest version from App store, you will then update the lock firmware by holding your phone with the latest Secure app, by standing next to your lock within BLE range and press “update lock” under Secure app “lock settings”.

The plan for the new firmware is to also solve the battery drain issue.

We hope this has answered your questions, if you have any further queries please let us know.

I chased up Yale to see if the update had fixed the battery drain model. Apparently not. They sent me an August module for yale. Just put it in this evening. It connected really easily but it wiped all my existing codes so i had to set up new codes using the August app. The app can bbe set up so the door unlocks automatically when i get home. Hopefully the batteries hold up this time
