Hi - The other day I noticed my Ideos x5 had a small led light on the top right hand side of the phone where the ear piece is. Anyone know what this is supposed to me or why the light is blinking?

It's the proximity sensor, and it is a Viber bug.
The latest version of Viber (2.2.3) appears to have caused the proximity sensor on my Ideos X5 to be constantly blinking, like yours is doing.

If I go and force stop on Viber, the proximity sensor (the flashing dull red light) stops blinking.

I have logged a ticket with Viber here - http://helpme.viber.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit/RenderForm/13

If you were to log a ticket describing your issue, hopefully it might help them to fix it sooner rather than later. :)

I have had the red light on my S2 with an old version of the vonage app, they managed to fix it. Also the battery chewing came right on the same fix.

Hi,

Try going to Settings > Applications > Viber (you may see vibergoogletwitter or similar) and click on 'Clear data'.

Hope this helps.

The latest update from Viber fixes the proximity sensor issue.

I have an X5 and the red LED tells me when the phone is going to die (less than 15% battery).
I do not have Viber installed

Different red light. I guess they're talking about the little on one the left? (I have a U8150 and had the same issue with Skype).

Different red LED, its not the message one, its part of the proximity and light sensor so that the phone turns the touchsceeen off when you hold it to your ear.
