Hi Everyone,

Just got VDSL installed and happy on the big jump up from ADSL.

These are router stats, and rates I am getting

Any Orcon people here that can help. Has the same thing happened here as to the other poster who was still on an ADSL profile.

Hello... Our robot found some keywords in your post, so here is an automated reply with some important things to note regarding broadband speeds.

If you are posting regarding DSL speeds please check that

- you have reset your modem and router

- your PC (or other PCs in your LAN) is not downloading large files when you are testing

- you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap

- your tests are always done on an ethernet connection to the router - do not use wireless for testing

- you read this topic and follow the instructions there.

Make sure you provide information for other users to help you. If you have not already done it, please EDIT your post and add this now:

- Your ISP and plan

- Type of connection (ADSL, ADSL2, VDSL)

- Your modem DSL stats (do not worry about posting Speedtest, we need sync rate, attenuation and noise margin)

- Your general location (or street)

- If you are rural or urban

- If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin

- If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service

- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

Your speedtests are fairly close to the line rate - saying they are not anywhere near what you should be getting is not correct.

IIRC one of the Orcon reps advised the issue you are referring to was a one-off, and the reason behind it was also addressed so it couldn't re-occur to someone else.

Line rate is just the frequency on the line, data packets require at the very least an ack packet to go back up the line, hence you can't achieve line rate as a data rate.

The ADSL profile would limit you to below 30mb/s so it definitely isn't that.

im connected at 62.5/10.3 and speed test at 58.6/9.9

so you are pretty close not "much lower"

it should have been explained to you that vdsl can train up and down on the line over the first few days so let it settle for a few days before you worry too much.

Did you have the heavy rain earlier? vdsl runs on copper as with adsl so line quality can degrade in wet weather.

I'm getting something similar.

I sync at 41-44Mbit/sec but seem to be capped at around 28-30Mbit/sec download.. But I think it might be something to do with my plan. It displays Orcon VDSL but shows me on my old 200GB plan instead of the unlimited plan.

Hi, you were also on the ADSL profile, I've fixed that so can you please reboot?

Looks like your order was in-flight when we fixed the issue for new orders....big report running to flush out anyone else...
