I have switched from the default slingshot router Triple Play 150 to a new netcomm wireless NF7 to fully take advantage of fiber speeds, ( was previously getting 90mbps via the old router now 105) I was wondering if there is a way to use the old router that they supplied me as a fx1 port for phones? The current router has no RJ11 ports for phones whereas the triple play does. I have tried calling slingshot however they have said that they cant help me with this, however they also said it will be a good idea to put it in bridged mode to get it working.

After 2~3 hours of troubleshooting later, i still cant get the phone to work on the other router.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

AFAIK for Slingshot Fibre, the voice is tied to the MAC address of the TriplePlay modem.

When I switched from VDSL to Fibre I explicitly told them not to touch my iTalk VOIP account so I can use any ATA on the new connection.

I am not sure whether you can request them to switch you to iTalk or not and keep using the TriplePlay as an ATA.
