Sorry I'm not a tech wizard so please bear with me

We currently have the standard Orcon router for our Fibre connection, however we have 20+ devices in our house - many of them apple and internet keeps crashing.

We bought a Nighthawk AX12 that we were told could plug straight into the Gateway and we would be all good - which is how the current Orcon router is set up. Note - we don't want to use it as a bridge/extender - want to use instead of the Orcon router.

We then spent 5 hours on the phone with Netgear with no luck, also Orcon couldn't help (other than supply our admin login) as it's not one of their routers. And we still cant get an internet connection.

Anyone have any ideas or do we give up and take back to the shop?

Surely it shouldn't be this hard? :(

Thanks heaps

There is no 3rd party router that will ever just be a "plug in" replacement. They will always require some form of configuration.

The settings are simple enough - VLAN10 and DHCP, so if you can't manage your way through the settings the best option will be to call an IT technician to visit your home and configure this for you. It should literally be only be a 60 second job for somebody who can log into the router. IMHO it's not the job of Netgear support or the retailer to help you, and it's certainly not the job of Orcon.

Personally I'd see zero value in the average home user buying a router that costs as much the AX12 right now, especially with the WiFi 6 standard not yet being fully ratified.

These Orcon Fibre settings should be all that you require:

Also verify the DNS settings are correct after the fibre link up:

Also... if you have been playing with more settings and have screwed up a few it might pay to factory reset your router before entering the required Orcon fibre settings...
