So I recently bought a t2100 with some issues setting it up its been working fine, apart from a random click sound while watching TV. I am unsure if the TV is the problem (The clicking comes only when volume is on and am watching tv) or if its the box. The playstation 4 makes no such noise when running and the DVD player also works fine... Just freeview through the t2100.

Am pretty stressed out on what to do as it cost a fortune, I bought it online from the farmers.co.nz so on clearance so not sure exactly how to get support over it.

Things I have done to try eliminate the random click noise are changing HDMI cables, changing HDMI ports, resetting box and removing other devices from being plugged in.

All help welcome! :)

Hi, You might have already done this, Try a software update.

Also, what audio output settings are you using? (on the box) and what audio settings are you using on the TV.

Im sure they would offer support for any question you ask and there is someone here who might be able to help diagnose.

Hi Madeline,

Is the popping noise coming from the TV speakers or the box itself? just trying to isolate if its something in the machine or a signal from the box to the TV is having interference ?

Thanks

We have exactly the same issue - I posted about it here:

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=83&topicid=175478&page_no=7

Dish TV sent me a replacement box, which does exactly the same thing. I suspect it's a problem with the decoding, as when I plug the hard drive into a laptop, the recorded files play back with no pops and clicks in VLC. I haven't chased it up much further, since we're mainly using the box for playing back Freeview Plus, but it does seem like a similar problem to what the UK experienced when some channels started encoding using Perceptual Noise Substitution - https://community.sony.nl/t5/other-tvs/perceptual-noise-substitution-pns-sound-issues-on-freeview-hd/td-p/2179040

So is def the box you think? Not the tv? So I just ordered a new TV for nothing? eep... oh well. I am not sure what to do, its just a random pop kind of click it comes out of no where. It drives me crazy cause I watch a LOT of tv. I can't get out on my own so I use it for company. So I need a new box?

If the issue is what sparky posted about above, what can be done?

If it is a decoding problem it would be up to Dish TV to sort it out with a firmware update. If it is the same problem that cropped up in the UK, it seems to have been solved by the broadcasters undoing a change to the way the encoded programmes.

I did seem to notice it more on some channels than others (I seem to remember Duke being particularly bad).

Thanks sparky :( Well either way I am getting a new TV now, so I guess after that and the box still clicks I will have to work out what to do :( Its a shame, this is my only freeview decoder since igloo died.

Noting that an Igloo decoder will still function as a Freeview box once Sky's Igloo T2 mux shuts down

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

New TV still got the same issue. So Def the box. the new TV has built in freeview but its complicated to use compared to the t2100, if I got a t2200 would there be the same problem?
