I've just moved into a new rental, and have not yet asked for permission to mount my dish on the roof.

I have finally had enough of watching 4:3 analogue on my 16:9 CRT so I got thinking and walked around the property (set of 4 units).

In the corner of the shared carport there were 3 supermarket trolleys. Wheeled one to the side of the house, flipped it upside down, and mounted the dish to one of the legs! It works really well and very stable even on todays blustery day.

No one can see it being at the rear side of my unit.

At my last house the dish was attached to the washing line post.

Any one else ever mounted a dish to any other crazy places?

Hey, if it works - it works, right? Kiwi #8 fencing wire approach!

i couldn't be bothered mounting my 90cm dish on the roof (not sure if i'd be allowed). So I mounted the frame it came with on two railway sleepers. After it blew over for a second time, I then went and put some tent pegs on it to stop it from doing that.

Shopping trolley, great idea! Probably not robust enough to put a 1.2M solid on though.

Nate my digicam is knackered, hope to get a pic on the weekend when a mate comes over with his.

allstarnz, may hold a 1.2M dish, mine is 90cm, them shopping trolleys are pretty heavy and sturdy lol.
Was fairly blustery today and only a fraction of a shudder.
