I am using the new white sky control box which was activated in February 2023. All of a sudden I am being told "Restricted Content" "Incorrect Pin".

last night watching the weather on Channel 3 and half way through it came up "Incorrect Parental PIN and nothing else. I tried to phone SKY on 0800 759 759

but was told they closed at 6pm. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. No wonder SKY has such a bad name. I wonder if anyone else is having the same problems.?

Unplug the stb for 30 seconds and plug it back in. Unless you or someone else changed your pin and forgot it. It's usually 0000 ootb iirc though.

Thanks. I

have never had the need for a PIN. Is there any way I can do away with the need for a PIN?

You need to go into the parental controls and change all the clasifications to unlocked

You might try contacting them on (09) 525 5555 ?
That seems to be their advertised number for customer support now.

I get the "Restricted content" message regularly, multiple times/week, on all/any channels. I simply enter the code.

Going to sky.co.nz/myaccount and using the chatbot is the quickest way to talk to someone.

That is interesting. This must be something new because I have only started to get it. It is easy enough to enter a PIN now I know they require it.

Again,  tonight get almost to end of weather on channel 3 and up pops request for a PIN. Surely this is a fault in the so-called new STB.

Why can't they sort out these problems, surely it can't be that difficult.?

I've had this problem since I got the box on Feb 23rd last year.

What sort of response and action did you get when you reported it  This is starting to annoy me.

The first time I reported it they said they would remove my PIN. The second time I reported it they said no one can remove my PIN. No one appears

to know what they are doing at SKY. As I said before surely it can't be that difficult to fix.? Anyone got any suggestions about fixing this problem.?

I would imagine it is more of a 'data' problem than a problem with the box itself.

The pin should be requested when the content is objectionable in some way or other.  e.g. some of the racier scenes / sexposition in Game of Thrones would have warranted the pin popping up.

It will be tied to the 'rating/warnings' of the program currently being broadcast. And it will probably apply itself a minute or two early - just to be safe.

What time was the 'weather' on channel 3?  What was the next program on the schedule?  Would it have required the parental pin popup?
Assuming 6pm news, at 7pm was Block Australia (rated PG).

https://help.sky.co.nz/s/article/Parental-Control-for-your-Sky-Box
Indicates it will show the parental pin before 8:30pm for Adults only content regardless of your settings.

"Restricted Content" problem with me can happen on multiple channels simultaneously. I'm not aware of watching any programs that could be classified as restricted content at the time, generally watching sport and news. On Sunday I couldn't watch any channels from 14:30 as it was saying "Upgrade Subscription".

Update. I am pleased to report that I have not had one PIN required notice for the past few days. Hope it is not a fluke and that someone has fixed it. Fingers crossed.
