I've search the forums and found bits of advice for setting up the Sky decoder with a shared dish, but nothing I tried worked. I thought I'd ask here before I have to resort to knocking on random doors in my building until I find someone with Sky who will let me check their settings.

I've been using these settins:

Sat: D1-NZ13L

I've tried with LNB Power On and Off

22kHz Tone Use > None

LO Freq 11300

I've had a look for the dish but I can't see it. I have freeview built into the tv which works perfectly. I'm using the same aerial connection as freeview, assuming if freeview is working then Sky should work (freeview doesn't work on the other aerial connection).

If anyone has any ideas or could at least cut down on the number of different setting combinations I have to try, it would be awesome.

Hi, there are only two settings in use the other being 10750, if that does not work then its possible that the outlet that you are using is not connected to a feed that includes the satellite Lband feed. The document below on my website I hand out to customers who move there STB between say home and the beach bach, it describes the only two setting in use, although in an apartment there is no need for LNB power to be on but matters little as the distribution system will block any DC current in may present.

Thank you!

Just confirming the satellite is D1-NZ13L?

I really want to watch the rugby tonight. :)

Hi, yes NZ13L is the home transponder that is the correct settings for all SkyNZ STBs regardless of what LNB they are connected to.

As I say there is a chance that the outlet you are on is either not connected to the LBand feeder or maybe is downstream of a decoupling diplexer so only sees the UHF spectrum. If you still cannot make it work you may need to call a sky installer to hitch it up in the riser somewhere.

When we moved to an apartment with a shared feed, I rang Sky and the lady on the phone talked me through changing to the correct settings.

You do realise that Freeview builtin to TV is DVB-T (terrestrial) so obviously connects to a UHF antenna.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

And for the rest of us adamj, what were your settings?

That would be it.

Freeview inbuilt to tv = dvb-t, not satellite freeview.

Sometimes, apartments run the satellite and aerial service over the same line. Sometimes they have different outlets for terrestrial and satellite. Sometimes they have no satellite service at all.

The fact that there are two outlets suggests that there are separate satellite and aerial feeds. Try the other outlet with the sky box.

The fact that you can get freeview via the tuner inbuilt to the tv has no bearing on whether or not you can get sky.

No idea now, this was about 2 years ago now. We upgraded to an HDi as soon as they were released and the technician set that up so I don't know what settings he used.

IIRC, I had to change something to do with the LNB.

Just to clarify all the details required are in the link above but essentially its either 11300 or 10750. 99.99% of all current MDU (apartment) installs use 11300 as this uses the lower part of the LBand IF and thus has less losses compared to 10750, however in time that may change.

The same would apply to an HDi as to a standard STB.

As I said earlier, its likely that the outlet you are connected to does not have the LBand (SatelliteIF) feed combined to it, all depends on how the buildings being connected up. Its typical that the V/UHF antenna feed and LBand IF are combined onto a common backbone, so both should appear on an outlet, and its desirable that you seperate these out with a diplexer or if you must simply split them, but this is not ideal. It also could be that the outlet you have connected to is only connected to a V/UHF backbone with no LBand IF on it or there is a diplexer in the wall or at the tap that is only giving you the V/UHF feed, in which case an installer is required to change this over, especially if the diplexer is in a riser or ceiling space.

What Cyril is trying to say is, try both the 11300 and 10750 settings on both wall sockets, if it is still not working then ring sky.
