Niel: I realise this is not the correct forum for HTPC questions, however it ties in with this thread as it gives a possible solution to the problem. It might depend on which channe' (and thus codec) you're using. There are MPEG deblokers. which help to alleviate the blocking you can get on some low bitrate feeds, but I am not aware of it being possible for x264?
If you watch Sky (with a genuine card) on an HTPC and do post processing, is there significant picture quality improvement? I know you can't get the original quality as it is lost in compression, but is there significant reduction in artefacts to make it look better? And if so, what video card and what processing? Thanks.
