I know wot a Sanyo 7400 is and it is optus, but here's whot you do,get all youmates in the office/whereva, voda's on one side, tellies on the left, let each brag their phone phone off, you'll come to the conclusion that vodafones mobile have better functions/features for price range group, some even out do Telecoms expensive priced phones simple stuff like Infra red,and Bluetooth stuff, phone display customisations, capatability with other things (PC, Laptop, other mobiles). The Sim card, now they're making laptops, Cars, Trains, Cruise ships,The new Jumbo jet thats coming out, and all you have to do is insert your Simcard in their onboard phones as a standard hardware. Telecom's still sleeping. And the limits to the phones are because they're CDMA as opposed to Voda's 3G, Yeah yeah Telecoms T3G is coming, so is santa.

I think you have some misconceptions. Perhaps reading some older posts here and taking the time to actually use the technology would help you understand the constraints and benefits of each standard.

There is no "cool" technology, but the right one for each use. Forget about advertisements and groovy, but focus on user needs.

Hello guys,
sorry to necro this post, if it's been dead for a while - but I've just recently bought a sanyo 7400, and a Data cable came into my possession via trademe, Was wondering if anyone had figure out howto add 'new' things to the filesystem, i.e; ringtones, games, images that kind of stuff. So far using bitpim I've only been able to replace my other things, and I really don't want to replace the games I've downloaded with new ones from a pack I got off bittorrent, I just want to make new entries and test them out. Anyone had any luck with creating a new entry?

If you read all the posts, go to other mobile forums, most topics are about "How to I install Games, Ringtones, Themes" and thats always after people have already bought the phone, and then you see what other people can do to their phones, then you will call your Telecom limited functioning phone, crap. "Ask not what your phone can do, ...but what you can do with your phone!

Hey Shadou,
You might of bought my Sanyo 7400 via TradeMe, $490?
Anyways, here's what you can try on your limited functioning phone.
1. Get an XTRA email account, just for your phone if you aint got an Xtra account already.
2. Email some games, ringtones into that email account from your PC, maybe via another email account.
3. Set phone up to get into the inbox of that account, (you'll have to set login name & password)
4. Connect into the accounts inbox download those stuff......BUT
When it tells you to save items to phone, lets say a Java Game, I think it asks to remove another game out before installing the new one. Images and ringtones are Ok, and self install into correct folders
You have to change a peticular setting in the security or the settings folder (something petaining to install from net or inbox, can't remember), so it will install the game without removing/deleting others.

Possibly the word you are looking for is functuality, not 'limited function'.
Anyway, I cannot find this particular setting under security, I think you may be confused, there is nothing like it at all. I'm looking for a method to transfer games via a data cable, directly into the filesystem, thus removing any cost. The email method, while I'm not sure it works, costs money.

Nope, I meant limited function.
Off the top of my head I cant remember as I sold my "limited functioning" mobile last year before christmas, but I found a scrap of paper with some backdoor codes,
I dont know if this was for the Sanyo 8100 or 7400, I just see Sanyo with the edge wit the number ripped off, So
In the normal stand-by screen

Weird, I can't seem to get into the last debug menu, doesn't do anything whatsoever. The top two work, but don't give the setting that you detailed, I also tried emailing a java game to my email address which I have setup in the webbrowser, is that what you meant I do? I can't even read the email properly with the web-browser, let alone download attachments.

Vinny... I'm surprised you keep trying. My apologies for calling you a child in my previous post.

More constructively, you don't appear to know what you’re talking about.

The major bit you’re missing is information about descriptor files. These are drm files, which determine where the data should be saved on the handset, the distribution rights, file id etc. They act as a wrapper for content. Without them the phone doesn't know what to do with the content.

Sprint (and therefore Sanyo) uses a file type gcd (general descriptor file). You can find information on these files from Google, or the sprint developer site.

It might be useful for you to know that what your saying is correct, rather than talking about subjects you clearly don't understand. A little research may even make you a happier person as you will be less frustrated by the technology that seems to be a bit beyond your scope!
