Hi all, need some help regarding Google add words.

I have a web site that I need to get people to go to, now I’m going to use google add words.

I have two options and I’m at a loss as to what to do.

Option A( go to a place like http://www.searchrankresults.co.nz/ and pay $250 to $400 per key listing.

Option B( go to google add words and do it my self…….

So I have two questions. First has any one done some thing like options A( and how did it go? and would you do it again. Next question is has any one done option B( and what was it like? Would you pay to do option A or B if you were to start from scratch and do it all again?

First it's Google AdWords... Second, unless you have a lot of money, paying that much money for their service is better using that to put into the ads themselves...

Adword optimisation and search engine ranking and optimisation can be time consuming. On the positive side, if it is a niche product or service you may not need to do much to maintain it once you achieve it. If you are using someone else, you will need to sit down with those guys and see exactly what they offer, if the targets they set are actually useful to you, and balance that against the time you have available for doing it yourself.

Also, on the ranking side you want to know they are legit and do not abuse ranking schemes, this could lead to a nasty ranking fall. The only way you can find that out is actually talking to people who have used their service for a few years.

One thing is advertising and campaign optimisation. This is related to creating ad campaigns that reach the right demographics, etc.

The other thing is Search Engine Optimization, and the "art" of getting your pages high ranked for some search queries - which means in effect free traffic (free as in not paid advertising, but not free as in you'd still have to pay the SEO consultant).

As pointed out, SEO can be effective but there are a lot of spammers going around - even here in New Zealand. I won't go into details because this would be off topic now.

Btw, around once a month Google advertises $50 free credit for new Adwords accounts. I see these ads coming up at the top of my Gmail account approximately once a month. You have to go through the link to get it. I probably get the ads because I'm signed up to Google Sites and Google Analytics and get mail related to that.
