So I've been doing a fair bit of work of this: https://github.com/psyciknz/ParadoxIP150v2 Now that I've managed to obtain an SP specific protocol guide.
Has a few more bells and whistles, and I have it very integrated into OpenHAB (and mostly into Home Assistant as well).
Previously known as psycik
Home Assistant: Gigabyte AMD A8 Brix, Home Assistant with Aeotech ZWave Controller, Raspberry PI, Wemos D1 Mini, Zwave, Shelly Humidity and Temperature sensors
Media:Chromecast v2, ATV4 4k, ATV4, HDHomeRun Dual
Server Host Plex Server 3x3TB, 4x4TB using MergerFS, Samsung 850 evo 512 GB SSD, Proxmox Server with 1xW10, 2xUbuntu 22.04 LTS, Backblaze Backups, usenetprime.com fastmail.com Sharesies Trakt.TV Sharesight
I am still running an older version of FW on the iP150 (original model).
If I upgrade to the > v4 FW, do I lose both the Web Interface and also the ability for the device to send email events?
Sounds like I should possibly keep this version of the IP150 and buy a new one for use with Insite Gold and Swan server
(keeping old device in case I want to roll back and play with some of the HomeBridge MQTT automation wiht HomeKit)
Has anyone tried using the IP150S - is that a version that supports old functionality but with recent firmware (eg v4 but still has web / email etc)

Not really. Depends how good you are with mqtt items types in openHAB (that said it works equally in home assistant or even homebridge directly.
What I haven’t done, and can do I can generate an openHAB items file as an artefact into github.
But it assumes you know what mqtt is how to install the server
I've pushed an update to the script that has a sample openHAB and Home Assistant config.

RickW: That might rule me out for the time being, havnt had a chance to play around with mqtt yet. I’ll have to ha e a play around on my next day off and see if I can get it working because it would be awesome to have working with openHAB.
TBH unlikely to happen any more than using MQTT...I'm not a fan of pointy clicky devices/discoverable devices as almost my entire home automation platform is based on MQTT....and I find that a much more transportable solution (ie I can feed two different home automation platforms - 3 if you count Homebridge as well, on mulitple machine).
And while I can code java, the development environment for OpenHAB looks daunting....and I'm also considering a move to Home Assistant as it's more python based.

ashtonaut: Has anyone had any success using this to interface with Paradox alarms?
https://github.com/ParadoxAlarmInterface/pai
It looks like it works even with the new firmware on the IP150 module.
If this (or something else) could work with my Spectra 4000 system then I might consider purchasing an IP150 module...
Yeah I swapped to it over the one I took over. Works well (spectra 6000) and ip150.
Though you might have to verify modern firmware, as that was the main reason the old one I supported went out of favour, as paradox we’re forcing everyone to use their cloud/connection method

Insite Gold works well, and the subscription fee is peanuts really, about $50 for 3 years across up to 10 devices - it's tied to the panel serial number not an app account. It does push notifications, if you have the right access level you can add/remove users on the fly too.
Unless you have the specific IP150 module which does not require the SWAN service to work properly, it will be your only real option with the IP150 module unless you plan on carrying a laptop around with BabyWare loaded. (Firmware version 4 and above)
I wanted to chime in with my home automation setup involving my Paradox alarm since various Geekzone threads, including this one, were such a brilliant resource. I wanted to get a consolidated set of information together showing a working setup for people to find. End result: I can control my Paradox alarm with Siri or Home Assistant.
I bought the IP150 V5.02 module for my SP6000 Paradox alarm and connect my IP150 locally to my Raspberry Pi where I run a Home Assistant setup, using MQTT as the underlying communication medium. I use Homebridge and Homebridge MQTT-Thing to do the Apple connectivity stuff.
My IP150 firmware is V5.02 meaning I can connect to it locally. I found it really hard to find whether I could or not since most posts reference the V4 or V4.40 firmwares where you cannot connect locally.
I use the following software:
https://www.home-assistant.io/
https://github.com/ParadoxAlarmInterface/pai
https://github.com/ParadoxAlarmInterface/pai/wiki/Homebridge
https://github.com/arachnetech/homebridge-mqttthing#readme
Enjoy!
When my security system 'goes off' (i.e. the internal and external siren), does anyone know if the iOS Homekit / Home app notification is just a standard push notification, or is it (or can it be) more prominent?
For example, even if my phone is on silent or DND mode, I would like a 'house alarm triggered' notification to come through regardless, with sound.
I'm a bit hesitant to test as I'll need to set my alarm off several times to figure it out...
If the answer is no then I'll probably use Pushover to send a duplicate notification with higher priority.

That's a really good point, something I will check!!

Yeah, I can't find anything online or any demos that show what actually happens.
My house alarm going off is probably one of the very few notifications that I would like to get loud and clear no matter where I am or what's going on!
