Hey all

So I have one of those standard white ovens with electric elements you know the oven most of NZ have.

I have an issue with it, there is a metal type clip thing that holds the ovens upper element in place, however one of the holes that this clip fits into has almost rusted away and the clip falls out which in turn makes the element drop down. Is there some sort of glue I could use that would be OK inside the oven?

Is this potentially a part you could look at getting as a replacement?

No, sorry my explanation is probably terrible. This small clip sits in two holes that are apart of the ovens main structure, so one of the holes has fallen apart which causes this clip to drop out.

On my oven the ends of the wire element support go horizontally into two raised bumps in the top of the oven liner. If they weren't there I's make a metal replacement bracket and use a self tapping screw to hold that. Then I'd start saving for another stove. Last time I had a stove with a rusted out liner the wiring was the next thing to start failing.

yes this sounds exactly like mine, the oven must be fairly old as all the appliances had been replaced when we brought the house but not the oven.

Bend a bit of metal plate and pop-rivet it in place. Don't fix the element rigid, it needs to be able to move for expansion. Epoxy will also work, but again don't glue the element to the oven.

Ditto, expect the insulation on your wiring to start disintegrating. Our old oven got to a state where the thermostat was stuck on and the kitchen got a glow to it, reckon the house was very close to catching fire.
