Hi everyone,

here is the story, couples days ago, my dishwasher blew up. I contacted a services provider with the brand, model, whats wrong and what i have checked to narrow down what the issue might be.

they reply saying they would have to come out to check before they give me any idea and pricing and the call out fee is 100.

i agreed to it and hoping it could be a quick fix.

The guy came, we chatted when walking from the gate to the house. he said "so your dishwasher has no power and you test the power sockets" I replied "yeah i did try it"

he then said "yeah if it has no power and the socket is fine, that got to be the powerboard inside the dishwasher" I said "oh? how much would it cost to fix?" he answer "$350 i have the part with me, so it should not take long if you want to repair it. but we will still to test the power socket first"

so we tested and i didnt get it repair only just pay the out call fee in just 5 min.

i know i should pay for the out call fee as i request the call out and agreed to the price. But would it not be nicer to tell me all of the stuffs and give me a price indicator? Rather than saying dont have any idea when there is only two possibility and i already had tested one of the two.

how does electrician normally work when they get called? interest to know, would be great if anyone has some idea can share.

thats it for this week's negative energy.

now enjoy your weekends guys:)

S.

Sorry - Was this warranty or was this a random person who fixes these things?
I assume a private arrangement, and in those cases that is standard for a call out fee to be applicable.

private arrangement, yup the call out fee is standard.

but i what i can get over with it that

if the issue is so obvious and standard, why not tell me when i called them. the guy knew what was wrong even before walk in to the house and see the machine in person.

Did you speak to an electrician to organise the fallout, or the receptionist. I’m thinking receptionist.

There's so many variables involved when it comes to electronics, so it would be hard to diagnose over the phone hence coming out

It's much like dealing with a user over the phone for an IT issue, they say its one thing and you remote onto their session/computer and its a completely different issue

Well - The plug either works or not. If it doesn't work then you know its the dishwasher, could be a mouse eaten cable, internal fuse (If they got one), circuit board or however.

Depending on what angle we approach it here, both sides will have a strong argument.

My father used to be an electrician working for himself from home. My mother would answer the phone calls and book in appointments while my father was out on service calls. Many of the calls were of the "my oven has stopped working, please come and fix it" variety. Often this problem was the owner putting their oven in to automatic mode and then wondering why it wouldn't work manually. After a while it got to the point where my mother could explain over the phone how to check for this "problem" for any brand and model of oven ever sold in NZ. Sometimes receptionists can do basic trouble-shooting over the phone...

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

yup agree. my case it more like it could be two, socket or dishwasher, if it is dishwasher, then 350 bucks. lol

Yup, if it's older than 5 years and the repair costs more than $300 then you're probably better off just getting a new dishwasher.

So you're complaining about the callout fee?
You agreed to it. Pay it.

If you ddn't want to, then look up possible issues online first, you can't expect them to come and test for free.
