Hi Guys,

I just thought to get your opinion before I buy the light below for our new build. I was looking for something similar and the one below seems like a perfect match.

https://www.westelm.com/products/light-rods-led-chandelier-w3642/

Has anyone had any experience with this site before? (US reviews not looking good) Shipping is like $150.

Or do you know any other (safe)site where I can find similar light?

Thanks

You just have to remember that your sparky won't install it without an Electrical Certificate of Compliance(COC).

Supplier Declaration of Conformity (SDOC), not COC.

Good chance you wouldn't be able to run it on 230V anyway without replacing the driver.

You may find a sparky willing to bend the rules a little and fit a new NZ driver to the fitting, on the grounds that it's the driver that is actually the high-risk part

You can also get things like that locally, if you're in Orkland there's a light shop in Wairau Park that has a whole floor full of LED lights like that, some absolutely spectacular... ahh, Galaxy Lighting.

Coming from the states it will probably only be 110V rated. So at a bare minimum the wiring on the supply side of the driver and possibly the driver would need to be replaced.

I would be talking to your spark before buying it to make sure that they would be willing to fit it.

That's not strictly true. From Worksafe (e-mail correspondence) "... any reasonable documentation can be used to support the completion of an CoC or ESC, if it was used by the EW to determine an articles safety. The difference being that the Regulation specifically recognises an SDoC as defined for this purpose, whereas any reasonable compliance documentation used as the basis of electrical safety, can be used in mitigation by the EW, if the article subsequently proves to be unsafe."

^^That reads as a "grey" enough reasoning to load the EW with the risk and absolving Worksafe with the "That's not what we meant" should it not go to plan

Essentially, yes, the responsibility lies with the EW and supplier. The full e-mail, which was in response to a query about the JAS-ANZ certification of Shelly products and their lack of an SDoC, can be found at https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=73&topicid=272374&page_no=21#2821165
