I'm looking for a new stacked washer & dryer set as my house (1970s) only has a small laundry room with wooden floor. Does anyone have any experience on running a stacked washer/dryer on a wooden floor? I have a Bosch front load washer (not stackable) which is working fine but needs a new dryer so looking for replacing a whole stacked set, but a bit concern whether the wooden floor is capable of holding such weight and vibration. Thanks!

As long as there are floor joists under where they will be stacked , then it should be no problem,

If you've got a pile nearby even better

Might need a reccky under the house to have a look

I wouldn't be so concerned about the weight of adding a dryer.

Remember though that if a front-loading washing machine breaks - you might need to release the water out of the emergency drain. In my experience, even if you're careful, a fair amount is going to end up on the floor.

I know it's not exactly what you asked for, but you can get stacking kits for this purpose if your current washing machine is still okay. e.g. https://www.harveynorman.co.nz/whiteware/laundry/accessories-en/

You can also wall mount traditional dryers (i.e., non condenser, non heat pump dryers). This is what we have.

Thanks for the reply! :)

Yes was thinking about it as well. My currently washer is a bit small so cannot stack other condense or heat pump dryer. And another problem we have is the laundry got no wall to the outside for a vent and wife doesn’t like open a hole on the floor. :)

The weight of the dryer will generally do a pretty good job of damping the vibrations of the washer. You might also be surprised how little a new washer vibrates during the spin cycle.

Until you try a small wash that only covers part of the drum. The washer will try spinning at full speed but will have to back off as the drum is unbalanced.

We've got a stacked washer/dryer combo in our 1920s house.. It's over vinyl flooring (over original wooden flooring), but we haven't noticed any issues in relation to weight on the floor.. However, on a high spin cycle the house does vibrate a little... I put in some rubber pads on the washer to help ease it though.
