After turning on global mode and signing up to Netflix Im suddenly losing all my devices to the kids.

What is the easiest (cheapest) thing I can buy to get it on the TV? I tried the PS3 and even with a few tweeks I am still getting error codes which is apparently a common issue.

Apple TV vs Roku?

Cheers!

I just ordered Roku 3. I think it should be straightforward to setup! I have unblock-us DNS in my router.

edit: obviously you dont need unblock-us since you are using global mode.

We have it running on 3 devices.

PS3, Roku and Sony Bravia.
All via unblock-us.com

What sort of problems are you having with the PS3? You need to create a US PS3 account first.

Apple TV is the most readily available locally, and is a pretty much the same price as a Roku. ATV works a treat for Netflix in my experience

Gives me hope if you have it working! I keep getting an aip-703 error. I can get into netflix, choose something to watch and it starts to load before displaying “This title is not available to watch instantly. Please try another title”. I have tried swapping the DNS a few times but no luck.

Having both a roku 3 and an apple tv, I found the Apple TV a little easier.

But I'd already set up the teh US account for buying TV shows (and funding it etc).

Remember creating the roku 3 account you need to has a vpn before you create teh account (and keep it for creating your netflix account). For the apple tv, you dont need to look like you're coming from the US to create the itunes account, but do need to look like the US for the netflix side. So YMMV

WD Live, Apple TV, or pretty much any other media player that has a Netflix app.

Been using my WD Live and a trial Netflix account. Works a treat.

Isn't the wd TV live hard to get? Ie have to get a us one? And same with a roku.

I thought an Apple TV and ps3 and some Sony blurray players were the easiest to get access to Netflix (as dont require overseas shipping)

WD TV live is OK if you like sluggish menus and don't mind rebooting it every week so that is doesn't grind to a halt. Otherwise the Ruku is a bit more polished, but apple TV if you're drunk the apple kool-aid

Personally I find the apple implementation of Netflix much better.  Faster to start streaming, and more kid friendly with the Just for kids sections and character views.  The horizontal and vertical cover scrolling of the roku looks a little childish, and it's harder to restrict to certain genres (if fact I don't think you can on the roku, only vertically browse the "recommended categories for you")

This aip-703 error seemed to be a problem on unblock-us.com as well. But according to their site it has now been fixed. We have however never experienced this problem with our PS3.

I'm presuming then that this problem still exists when in Slingshot global mode and its something that Slingshot will need to sort out.

Signup for the free week trial on unblock-us.com and try it without Slingshot global mode.

I see Sky is already talking to it's lawyers to see what can be done to block this service.

"Sky TV, Television, New Zealand and MediaWorks owners of TV3 and Four have all been talking with Hollywood studios and say they are "keeping a close watch on developments.

Fellet said he had not yet seen legal opinions from either party."
"close watch" isn't talking to lawyers.

FYI, on my PS3, since the Netflix app was updated, I have had that error, AIP-701 and constant buffering. Gone through all the support articles on Unblock-us and despite claims they have fixed the problem at Unblock-us the problems persist. It used to work brilliantly. Have since cancelled my Netflix subscription and very happy with Hulu Plus, Amazon and Vudu. I am with Telecom.

If Unblock - US is possibly the issue.

Try UnoTelly (I use this) who offer a similar service and have a one week (or month?) free trial.
