Not sure if this is the right place but I'll ask anyway. A few days ago I'm sure there was a VPN service recommended on here with a discount for members. Can anyone point me in the right direction as I cant seem to find anything about it now. When I put VPN in as a search it comes up with posts over 4 years old. Any thoughts?

Astrill works well, no discount though. Their software sucks, I set the VPN connection up to their various (numerous) servers manually in windows.

Do you want the cheapest VPN, or the best for NZ conditions?
I use VPN every day and have tried various VPN providers (all about the same price).
The best by far in my experience is IPVanish.

Servers in many countries including NZ and Australia. (25,000+ IPs on 165+ servers in 60+ countries)
Excellent user interface
Fast
Supports P2P
Does NOT keep traffic logs

Disclaimer - I have no vested interest in any VPN provider - I just know what I like smile

I buy my own vps... low end spirit gives me my own debian box for 5 euro per year. Because I am cheap, I'm a geek and like to be in control of my own destiny. Granted I don't torrent stuff as that would get me kicked off the service pretty quickly. But all the online streaming services work fine for me.

For VPN I use strongvpn. Worked fine for me when I was in china, works fine to buy things on US sites that geoblock, works ok for streaming but not as good as unotelly, but that may be my crap DSL cant handle the overheads as well. It seems to get near linespeed on steam downloads over the VPN so not sure why netflix would be popping between SD and 720 over VPN.

What do you actually want?
A) a vpn?
Or
B) to watch content from overseas?

If you just want to watch Netflix etc, then a smart DNS service like unitelly or unblockus is better.
But if you want an actual vpn for other reasons, then a smart DNS is not the same thing.
