Buster:

NSW records 11,201 new COVID-19 cases. Hospitalisations rose to 625, with 61 people in intensive care. Three more people have died with the virus.

Five deaths in Victoria, 3767 cases, 397 in hospital.

This was anticipated but it is still jaw dropping.

If you go back to their last peak in September, they maxed out at ~1200 hospitalisation with ~240 in ICU and 120 ventilated and this was from a peak of ~1500 daily cases, (with a 2 week lag)

So based on a 2 week lag we get ~1500 cases (15-16 Dec) yielding 600 hospitalisations with only 10% of them in ICU (vs 20% last time)

BUT unless something changes 10K cases today could yield 4000 hospitalisations with 400 in ICU in two weeks..  but 2 weeks after that who knows....

True case numbers are going to be waaaaaay higher than this. People can't get tested due to queues, and many people with symptoms aren't even bothering.

Hopefully we'll see the peak in a week or so still followed by it burning out really quickly.

I see mass cancellations of New Years Eve trading across pubs, clubs and other hospo venues in Sydney are a thing.

The Premier was on this morning talking about how well everything is running and how well NSW is doing.

Looking forward to Scomo going missing after his rubbishing of NSW Modellers and the prediction of 50K cases. NSW is probably already on 50k with the 7% positivity rates from all testing.

I see NSW health are telling people under sixty five who have had two shots and have no known comorbidities to stay away from hospital.

Just keep swimming...

Except they were meant to complete 3 more days of self isolation and then they LEFT SELF ISO on day two or three of said self iso BEFORE THEY GOT THE TEST RESULT!

"Yesterday, the length of time international arrivals to New Zealand must spend in managed isolation halved from 14 days to 7, followed by self-isolation until a negative ‘day 9’ test is received.""

*reaches for pitchfork*
