I took a look at the e2 code and it's a non-starter, at least for me. I've asked the author where he got his info from so something may come from that.
If you can locate a document that defines the Open TV EPG format as it's broadcast then I'm happy to take a look at that. I imagine it must use DVB standards so it's possible it's just a form of EIT data.

I'm in the same boat as tbergman. From Aus and trying to get the high quality OpenTV 7 day guide for Foxtel (Sky NZ equivalent) from the satellite (or in his case - cable).
I thought i'd chime in and give all the info i've stumbled on.
There's already a few projects around that are able to manipulate OpenTV data but it's all over my head.
I've played around with the MediaPortal plugin for hours but had no luck geting it to work on our transponder.

If you grab TSReader, open it, select "Transport Stream File" as the source and then point it to the above MPG file. You'll get the following:
The PID circled in red is where the guide is. Here are the details that others use on their dreamboxes for the various plugins:

One question - I have successfully set up a scheduled task for BSE using the wizard with BSE but I cant seem to get EPGGrabber to run successfully as a scheduled task. It runs just fine if I double click on it from within teh folder but wont run when an action in a schedule task. Any suggestions?

hey dude, i have mine running at startup via a shortcut in the start up folder, which is fine for now because this I shut this PC down when im not using it.
having a way to make it run once every couple of hours or so would be good, especially for those who leave their HTPCs running 24/7

only thing is it will not lock on to stations if TV card is being used, eg watching tv, or recording even if not watching
Im not sure how hard it would be but is it possible giggles to code it so that epgGrabber shuts programe down that is using tv cards then run grabber then restart programe
im using mediaportal on one box only so server and client are same machine, for epg grabber to work i just need to shut client down run grabber and restart client, server is running all the time, so only client needs to be shut down

Under XP, I've got MediaPortal to suspend when not active and then wake up for events including in the middle of the night which coincides with a scheduled job to run the grabber. Given that EPG Collector gives you around 8 days of guide, that should be more that adequate.
Not sure I would like a gap in the middle of a recording of my favorite program... unless they can make it coincide with an ad break!
id agree about not wanting a gap but if possible and set up right in a gui u would set it to do update at say 3am or anytime when you know that you will not be needing tv cards, i know that im never recording/watching at that time of morning, also you could set it so that it that u have check button to ether auto update or manaul update but ether way it would be better to stop MP or any other programe
im just trying to think of ways to make it really user friendly as id say that this programe might be the only one to out last any of the other epg grabbers, and this once you have it working right is the best one for sure atm, the only draw back is it cant grab when cards are in use, for me when leave for work i shut MP down, have a schelded task to run at 10am then start MP when i get home, not a issue but for some it might be.
I use windows task scheduler to run it at 3am and have a shortcut on the desktop so I can do a manual update if required.
I think as long as the failure code was accepted by task scheduler it would keep trying untill it has a success so if Mediaportal was working you should still get your EPG updated (I just checked and didn't have it set so haven't tested yet).
FUBARnz: Arnt running win 7 but what about running it as administrator, do u have the UAC turned off?
Yes - set up as administrator. Runs just fine by double clicking epggrabber.exe. When i set up the scheduled task, it wont run with last run result code of 0xFFFFFFFF.
Have bse set to run at 3am and have added epggrabber as a task to run before it in actions.
When testing it, I am checking that I have a tuner available.
By teh way , liek the latest version - much quicker.
Now - thats freeview taken care of. Just one more set of listings to try and sort. Any pointers on that front also appreciated.....
