Right now is not the time to be buying a TV if you're after a good deal - clearance stock has basically all gone and new models are selling at full RRP everywhere.

Not sure whether it's still there, but I saw an LG 65" C8 in JBHifi in Wellington last week. I think the sticker was at $4200 but they could probably be negotiated with. Not sure whether they have stock or that was just a demo model.

Thanks for that. Gave them a call and they do have display stock. Wanting $4300 for it though. Rep told me to call again next week for potentially better pricing. I’ll need to go see it, little worried about potential burn in if it has been displaying the same content for the past year. Will see!

An ex-display LCD is fine but I'd never buy an ex-display OLED that's being playing the same loop all day for the last year. Hours really count on OLEDs. Another issue for buying ex-display TVs is they are usually unwilling to put a reasonable discount.
The Panasonic 65FZ950U OLED was available new from Noel Lemmings for $4,000 a couple of weeks ago.
I think $4,000 is too much to ordinarily spend on a TV too. The Panasonic 65FX600Z is available new for $1,888 and may be negotiable down to under $1800. Is an OLED better? Yes but there's always a better TV around the corner and $4300 is alot of money to spend on a TV that's one pause blunder away from being wrecked.
The one major failing with the C8 was the motion blur, which has been improved considerably in the C9 if you're to believe the good technical reviews.
@sbiddle I have a C8 and am wondering what motion blur you are talking about because I haven't experienced any issues? Is it only when motion processing is enabled (I disable all motion processing because I hate it the "soap opera" effect it creates)?

OLED panels suffer from some motion issues regardless of the brand - and pretty much every serious TV review does point this out. The C8 handles it well, but the C9 is better.
Some people just see motion blur more than others - just look at all the people who leave all the motion processing stuff switched on and are oblivious to it!

I've recently upgraded to a C8 from a Panasonic Plasma, and I haven't experienced any motion blur either.
With the incredibly fast response time of OLED the panel itself should suffer no motion blur at all. Any motion blur I think has to be the result of motion processing.
EDIT: I can certainly see artifacts being introduced if I enable motion processing on some content, but I don't no I'd describe is as "blur". And "Motion Pro" (black frame insertion) just looks awful to be. Have all those setting turned off. The only setting I leave on is "Dynamic Tone Mapping" for non Dolby Vision HDR content (which isn't anything to do with motion anyway).
Spent the day bouncing between retailers, either nil or very little off either C8 or Sony A8F. Justified the bit extra to go to a current model
Not a bad price for this time of year, although I am hoping they will go sub $4k by Black Friday. Absolutely a solid choice if you have to buy now though, since most of the last-gen display stock seems ridiculously priced.
Doesn't seem like there is much in it between this and the C9, since you get all the same goodies as the rest of the line up. Enjoy it!
