No problem - I should have spotted it before it was released in 2.0.14

Hi, I was also going to report in to let you know the midnight stitching was still broken... but 2.0.15a has fixed it for me too. Awesome work SJB!
Cheers

I'm thinking of doing a change to the way program titles and subtitles are processed.

At the moment if a title contains the ":" character it is split with the first part becoming the title and the second the subtitle.

That means you end up with programs with a title of say CSI and a subtitle of Miami.

I'm proposing to always leave the title unedited so you would see CSI: Miami as the title.

In addition the descriptions of some programs contain a subtitle at the beginning enclosed by "'", for example a description might currently be

'The Northcote Killer' Another serial killer roams Auckland.

I'm proposing stripping out the subtitle from the description and setting it separately as the subtitle so a complete example would be

Title CSI: Auckand
Subtitle: The Northcote Killer
Description: Another serial killer roams Auckland etc etc etc

Has anybody got any comments on this change?

Steve

Steve,

Yes Please! This is causing me some issues at present, as MCE treats them as the episode name and thinks all of the CSI's that I catually want are repeats and then doesn't record them, unless I specifically tell it to, the same goes for NCIS, (even if I select New and reruns in the recording options.)

I was going to post on this last night, but ran out of time. As I needed to trawl through the other 30 odd pages to make sure this, or other methods of post processing, hadn't been discussed in the past.

Thanks

David

You can miss out all but the last few pages - we don't have any issues that go very far back (at least none I'm aware of).

Incidentally I'm working with the author of BSEPG to put out usable series and episode references in the next release, created from the CRID's that are broadcast with each program.

Is that just for collection from MHEG5 or for OpenTV as well?

I'm pretty sure Foxtel uses something LIKE a CRID (if not a CRID itself) as the STB is generally accurate to the second for recordings.

A BIG +1 for this amendment. Cheers. I had logged onto this thread to post about exactly that. Saves me some finger wear Wink

OpenTV use a series link. It's just a reference number effectively - I'll ask Niall (BSEPG) if he can use it.

Ok. Is the number the same between identical episodes? Or is it the same between subsequent episodes in a given sequence? Hopefully the former, or both (ie, part of the number being a unique episode identifier, so it can reschedule if a screening is missed, another part being a sequence identifier).

I'm sure the guide also has some sort of CRID like mechanism, how else could it be so accurate with the start/stop times on the box? However this may just be transmitted in the EIT now/next data rather than the OpenTV data. Who knows.

I don't think it makes much difference which it is. To have an accurate start time you would need a reference number in the program stream to trigger recording.

It doesn't matter if that is a CRID or an event ID or a series link reference.

If it simply relies on OpenTV or EIT reception I don't see how that can be reliable - your talking over a hundred thousand program entries if you look at a UK feed.
